My adolescents swear that I have some sort of super human hearing power.
- I let them know that because it really doesn’t hurt my position as their dad.
At the same time, I suppose my hearing isn’t exactly super human. But it’s pretty good & has been that way all my life. Like I work in a tied up office environment & I can still hear the zone controlled heating & air conditioning kick on. Even with the din of our office, I can hear that a/c when it comes on. I know this has something to do with being able to separate sounds in my head. That might be due to how I grew up. I grew up way out in the boonies. And one of my favorite pastimes was to lie in the shrubbery at night & listen to all the critters. To do that, I had to develop the ability to concentrate on just what I was trying to listen to. Seems prefer a different thing to do I guess however it was better than sitting in the a/c watching Hee Haw with my folks. But I was able to hear weird frogs over all the other frogs & bugs & birds making noises. This came in handy a lot throughout my life. It even came in handy with the heating & air conditioning device not too long ago. Each time I walked by the heating & air conditioning lodgeet outside, I heard this genuinely high pitched sound coming from it. Or at least, I thought I did. It took me several times to genuinely become confident that I was hearing something abnormal. So I called the heating & air conditioning corporation up & they sent out a heating & air conditioning professional. Sure enough, there were some bearings going terrible that had it gone on much longer, it would have resulted in a heating & air conditioning breakdown.
