Entering a relationship – talking about HVAC duties

The older you get, the more your priorities change when it comes to relationships.

When I was younger, I think my biggest concern was how cute the boy was.

I didn’t really think about compatibility or sharing life responsibilities. My brain wants as far as his pretty eyes and flippy hair. Other than that, I assume that everything would just work itself out if we loved each other enough. It turns out, love is a lot more complicated than blind attraction. I’ve learned this the hard way a few times over. In fact, at this point, I’m so jaded when it comes to love that I am way more interested in the practical matters than physical attraction. When I start dating someone new, these days I would rather know about their money handling skills than their favorite places to eat. Recently, I started seeing somebody new and I probably freaked him out of it when I started talking about his philosophy behind HVAC equipment. I inquired if he had a smart thermostat or an old-school dial thermostat. I wanted to know if he had an indoor air temperature control plan already programs at his house. I was curious if he regularly called out an HVAC company to inspect and service his central heating and cooling system. I really wanted to know how he felt about energy efficient and carefully monitoring our daily heating and cooling equipment usage. At the end of the day, I need to know if we share HVAC philosophies so we can share a comfortable home. I want an air-aware and energy conscious provider.
