I know that some people really love their space heaters, but not me.
- Give me a really good central heating system any day.
I guess some people just don’t want to have to heat their entire house and pay for it if they are only in one room most of the time or something like that. I have a friend who basically never leaves his living room. I guess for him, an electric space heater makes sense because he wouldn’t want to pay for heating in the whole house, upstairs and downstairs, when he’s only in one room for twelve hours a day. I personally just don’t like electric space heaters, though. They give me the creeps. I know that these days, space heaters are much safer than they used to be in the past. There have been lots of breakthroughs in the safety of heating and cooling technologies over the past several years and so logically, I know that space heaters are much safer now than they were when I was a kid. I just remember once when I was growing up, one of the families at our church had their house burn down and they found out it was because of their faulty electric space heater. Ever since then, I have been very wary of having an electric space heater or portable kerosene heater anywhere in my house. I would just prefer to pay higher heating bills. I guess my friend doesn’t want to pay high heating bills, though. For him, and electric space heater is just fine.
