I have been in training at the local HVAC company for about four months now and it’s finally time for me to try to do an air conditioning system installation on my own.
I have been waiting and waiting for this day, and sometimes I have not been waiting very patiently.
I feel like I have known what I am doing since about one month into my job, but the place where I am working makes you have a mandatory 4 month training period before you can go out on your own. I guess that makes sense, since you are out there representing the HVAC company name among the community and their customers. They want to make sure that you know exactly what you’re doing before you go out there and accidentally mess something up. That would end up making them look bad. Anyway, later today, I’m finally going to do my very first air conditioning system installation all on my own. I’m just a little bit nervous, because since I’m so confident about it I’m afraid that I might actually tear something up! But I do know what I’m doing, and I was really great in all of my classes. Plus all of the shadowing that I have been doing has reiterated everything that I already knew in my HVAC certification classes. I am pretty sure that everything is going to go fine today. I’m hoping that once I get this one under my belt, they will let me do a lot more installations all by myself. I like working alone most of the time.
