My mama was a supremely cool old lady, but she had her strange behaviours.
- She would take it easy outside in the middle of summertime.
It would still be ninety degrees in the shade, plus she would have her sweater on. I would watch her lay in her porch rocker plus spend a number of hours just looking out at the mountains, plus smiling the whole time. I often wondered what she was smiling at. I couldn’t find it easy to believe it was because she was totally comfortable. Everyone else would be inside the residence with the a/c. Mama grew up when a/c machine wasn’t as readily available as it is now. Maybe she was truly thinking of her childhood when she plus my dad would be outside with the rest of the children. She always talked about how they would ride bikes all around and to the park. She said they would have these excellent weenie roasts out in the field. They didn’t have an a/c machine to keep them hidden away in the residence. They braved the weather plus were able to learn to appreciate life plus all that it provides. I sat outside with her pretty much always. This one time, I threw a shirt over my shoulders so I wouldn’t be sunburned. The shirt absolutely worked as a barrier from the tremendous amount of heat. Maybe it is not so different that she would lay outside with a thin sweater, rather than be inside with the a/c machine. It honestly made it more comfortable. This past summertime, I sat outside on the porch thinking about my mom plus how she would have really appreciated looking out over the mountain. I thought about our long talks we shared, plus I came to the realization the sound of the A/C component just took away from the melody of her voice, plus I truly missed her.
