Back when he was a little boy, our son always used to tell us that he wanted to be an HVAC technician when he grew up.
You should have seen him walking around the house with his little toy hammer and his toy screwdriver set.
It was the cutest thing ever to see and I had no idea why he wanted to be an HVAC technician at that point. His grandpa was an HVAC technician, so I guess he just wanted to be like him when he grew up. However, I did not know that he knew so much about the heating and cooling industry even from the time he was a little boy. Apparently, he used to listen to every single thing that his grandpa would say about furnaces and air conditioning systems. He knew even more than I did about HVAC systems by the time he was about eight years old. I will never forget how one day when I was trying to change the air filter in my HVAC unit, I couldn’t figure out what I needed to do next. My son, who was about 6 years old at the time, came down to the furnace room in the basement and showed me how to switch out the air filters so that the new one worked correctly. Then he took the old air filter upstairs and threw it away for me. I couldn’t believe it. It was so funny and cute but I was also proud of him at the same time. My son is actually an adult now and he works on jet engines as his job. He never actually became an HVAC technician, but he is great at fixing things and that story about him is still one of my favorites.
