Passing time with reading

Well one day, I grabbed what I thought was one of my books, but it turned out to be one of my dad’s HVAC books

When I used to go to school, I would get off before my dad got off of work, and since he was the one who drove me home, I would have to wait a couple of hours before he got off work. We lived too far away for me to be able to take a bus, so I had to wait for him. My father works as a HVAC technician, which means he goes to different houses to fix people’s air conditioning systems and heaters. Depending on how far away he was, he could take anywhere from 30 minutes to 3 hours! Sometimes, if he got off early, he would pick me up from school early and we would both go home. For the most part, it was just me alone at the school, waiting for him to pick me up. To pass the time, I would read about a lot of different subjects. I had a ton of books, and my backpack felt like I was carrying a cement block with me. Well one day, I grabbed what I thought was one of my books, but it turned out to be one of my dad’s HVAC books. I already knew he wasn’t going to be picking me up for awhile, so I decided to just read the A/C book. A lot of it was confusing, but the heating and cooling book had multiple illustrations and diagrams pointing out the different parts of an air conditioning unit. By the time my father’s HVAC van came to pick me up, I had a very basic understanding of how heaters and cooling systems work.
