My mates and I are filmmakers at heart.
We do this both personally and semi-professionally, although we are still looking for our big break.
There are five of us in all, and we work together as much as possible, but we all have other jobs, and three of us have families, so sometimes it is catch-as-catch-can. Aside from our own short films and projects, we also shoot and edit commercials for local businesses. All of our work is usually done guerilla style, meaning we don’t have permits and just shoot and run. My oldest and most reliable client is the owner of a series of HVAC repair shops across this end of the state. Back in the day he and I used to get stoned together, then he got into the HVAC game and I started filming. It was good to reconnect with him, and due to our shared history we worked really well together shooting a series of HVAC commercials for late night TV. My friend starred in the commercials, of course. Just Like I had always wanted to direct movies, he had always wanted to act, so we had a lot of fun making our HVAC commercials. I am not exactly sure if the commercials generate any business for him, or help him sell any additional air conditioners, but as long as he wants to make them, I will be there! Maybe I will never make it to Hollywood, but thanks to the HVAC commercials I have picked up a few other jobs, so things seem to be moving in the right direction!
