Taking my fitness to the next level

Everyone in my whole family is quite overweight.

No one has good eating habits or does anything physical. While I was growing up, there were always unhealthy snacks available. We ate a lot of fast food for our meals, drank pop and spent most of our time watching television or playing video games. Because of my issues with weight, I was very shy and lacked confidence. I was too intimidated to join any of the sports teams. I always wanted to lose weight but had no clue how to go about it. When I went away to college, I finally enrolled at one of the larger gyms. I paid attention to what other people did and followed their example. I learned how to utilize the various machines. I researched healthy eating habits and significantly changed my diet. I took up physical activities such as running, hiking and biking. I was really pleased with the results. I lost a significant amount of weight and felt so much better about myself. However, before I achieved my desired weight, I hit a plateau. No matter what I did, I couldn’t manage to lose more weight or improve my appearance. Realizing I needed professional guidance, I signed up with a personal trainer. The personal trainer focused on physical and mental wellness, taking my eating habits and workouts to the next level. She held me accountable with weekly BMI measurements, weigh-ins and charts of my goals and accomplishments. The workouts were extremely intense and demanding. She encouraged me to work harder and longer. Through new and varied exercises, she targeted all of my different muscle groups. She combined cardio training with weight lifting and stretching. I saw results very quickly.
