The air filter needs to be cleaned daily in the desert

I didn’t realize there was that much dust and dirt in the indoor air and I was a little disgusted by the sight

My wife and I are living in the desert for the first time in our lives. We started traveling across the country a few months ago and we finally hit the desert last month. It’s a lot hotter here than the two of us originally expected. We had to buy a portable AC unit to help with the heat. I’m thankful there is no humidity. My wife and I were previously living in a region with awful humidity. I would rather have 100 degrees with no humidity than 85 degrees with 90% humidity. Still, the heat is awful when you have no trees to block the sun. My wife and I had to clean the air filter on the portable AC unit only one week after we purchased the machine. I woke up in the morning and the AC unit was spitting out warm air. I turned off the machine and turned it back on, but that didn’t fix the problem. I decided to check the air filters and I was really surprised when they were covered in dust and dirt. I didn’t realize there was that much dust and dirt in the indoor air and I was a little disgusted by the sight. After I cleaned all of the air filters with warm soapy water, the AC unit finally started putting out cold air again. It seems like the air filters will need to be cleaned daily as long as my wife and I are living in the desert. Otherwise, we are going to have a lot of unnecessary damage that could cause problems.
