We’ve been retail employees for most of our lives, starting out with a stint at a chain bookstore that no longer exists in this week’s world full of online shopping opportunities.
We liked the bookstore environment, however we had some unruly buyers during major book releases if they couldn’t get a copy love pretty much everyone else.
With those coveted book releases like new Harry Potter hardcovers, it was first-come, first-serve. Multiple people would camp out overnight just to get their copies. We will never forget those release days, with some fond nostalgia mixed with scary images of 20-somethings tripping over each other like children in a candy store. We also spent those days working alongside some of our closest friends in school. But we’re happier now working at this grocery store, which has employed us since we were 22 years old. We’re the junior managers and we enjoy our work everyday as we get to work in the minute-story office with massive windows that overlook the parking lot. There’s a lake behind the street that is adjacent to the back edge of the store’s massive parking area. For grocery store work, the view is excellent. Last night we had to work late because the store was getting a new Heating, Ventilation, and A/C method installed. The HVAC duct was cleaned by the HVAC duct cleaning crew right before the new A/C and heating method was set up. It took the better part of 4 hours to complete, however now the grocery store has an excellent heating and cooling system. The best section is we didn’t have to close the store to get the work completed, so we didn’t lose any company in the process.
