Dealing with a heating issue

Before my partner married me, he lived in a tropical climate.

He is the kind of guy that thinks that when the temperature is in the low 70s it is cold.

While I grew up in a subtropical climate, I cherish basking in the sun and that comforting feeling of humidity every now and then (yes I said comforting, kind of like a warm and wet blanket). That is not exactly how I feel when it is time to go to sleep, instead I need my living room to be at least 76° or even lower. The cool, crisp air has constantly helped me get a much better night’s rest than when it’s hotter. I’ll even have fans in the room in the winter time to circulate the air and supply me with a source of white noise to lull me to sleep. Well, when my associate and I got married I found that I needed to compromise because my partner wasn’t too happy about the fans. However, he easily wasn’t happy either about keeping the temperature in the 70s in our living room. I pleaded with him to wear extra layers, and sporadically this works and he lets me keep the control unit at 77° at the least. Other times, he just cannot get comfortable because he is too frosty cold and he ends up going to adjust the control unit while I’m sleeping. Sometimes, I sleep through the night without noticing, however most of the time I wake up in the early hours of the day. My first thought is that someone adjusted the temperature on the control unit, but marriage is about compromise though, so we will figure it out.
