Do You Want to be a DIY Heating and Air Conditioning Tech?

The game show “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” has captivated viewers since 1998! There could be a similar game for those who want to become a Do it Yourself (DIY) Heating and Air Conditioning Tech.

There isn’t a million-dollar prize, but it may prove to be a good way to see who among us is truly capable of the task! My “Who Wants to Be a DIY Heating and Air Conditioning Tech?” game show would begin simply with a series of questions about everyday tools needed for the upgrades, repairs, and repair of a home’s Heating and Air Conditioning system.

Most people could pass this level because they likely have hammers, screwdrivers, tape measures, pipe fitting wrenches, and a few power tools enjoy a battery-powered drill, and a few “contestants” might be stumped because they lack the electrical testers or a “Sawzall” saw that all pro Heating and Air Conditioning specialists own. The next level of the game will prove far more difficult in that the questions will be about specialized tools needed for Heating and Air Conditioning gigs that involve sheet metal. Most DIYers will fail at this level not because they lack the tools such as tin snips, crimpers, hand seamers, and folding bars, but instead, they will simply begin to see that the skill of building and repairing Heating and Air Conditioning ductwork is simply beyond their proficiency level. The few remaining contestants who reach level multiple will then be faced with many questions about specialized unit needed for Heating and Air Conditioning work, but for instance: Do they have a vacuum pump or a set of refrigerant gauges? My million-dollar question would be to ask if they own a refrigerant scale. “Who Wants to Be a DIY Heating and Air Conditioning Tech?” offers only 1 lifeline and that is to call a qualified Heating and Air Conditioning specialist who owns all of the needed tools and has the comprehension to do the job right the 1st time.
