Gambling on an seasoned Heating and A/C

This could be a easily interesting summer.

And that has nothing to do with getting vaccinated against the Covid 19 virus.

While I’m thankful to be vaccinated, life is still far from normal in any sense for me. True, the attractively air conditioned office that I haven’t worked out of in a year will be opening. Even that office will be different. Since the supplier did well without all of us gathered under one roof, the supplier has decided to stick with toiling remotely. This is obvious by the fact that they took out a new lease on a much smaller space. I may only be enjoying the new zone controlled Heating and A/C for quarterly meeting or something. They aren’t quite sure what they are doing yet. So, I imagine that I’ll be toiling from the air conditioned comfort of home. Or not. This is what makes this coming Summer so interesting. And not in a fine way. The Heating and A/C tech told myself and others that the heat pump is on its last legs. She indicated that the two of us will see a spike in cooling costs this Summer and recommended a replacement. However, I can’t quite afford that just yet. So instead, the two of us are rolling the dice and hoping the heat pump will make it through the summer. It’s going to be warmer in our house. In an effort to limit the load on the Heating and A/C equipment, the two of us are going to have to jack the control unit setting up far higher that the two of us are used to. It seems fitting that after the year the two of us just went through, the two of us have to endure a risky a/c bet. Maybe that new normal will be more defined come fall.
