Ever since I was in school, I have struggled when it comes to learning new technology.
Even when I played video games with my friends, I was always the worst player. I tried to practice, but I never really got the hang of it. Back when everyone started getting iPhones, I held on to my old flip phone for a long time because I liked knowing how to use it. I guess I just have always struggled when it comes to technology, and there’s not an easy reason for it. For the first time in my life, I recently found a cool piece of technology that has actually been easy for me to operate, and I really like it! It’s a smart temperature control, which I affixed to my central Heating plus Air Conditioning system. In the six months I’ve had it, I have grown to love it more and more. All my life, I only ever used the type of thermostat that does a digital readout, which always seemed like a marvel of technology all its own. I remember as a child having the temperature control that was a plastic level on the side that you manually adjusted. This smart temperature control is next level, though, making the digital readout seem pretty primitive in comparison. This temperature control not only sets the indoor temperature, but it takes constant samples of the air quality! Not only that, but it learns as it goes, so if I leave the apartment for a few hours, the temperature control will automatically adjust itself so it doesn’t run the whole time. It monitors its own batteries plus air filters. If anything needs to be changed or upgraded, the smart thermostat sends an email to my phone as a reminder. It also runs self diagnostics, so it can alert us when we need to schedule a Heating plus Air Conditioning maintenance appointment. Before too long, this temperature control will know all the temperature preferences in our home and we won’t even have to think about adjusting them.
