Happy Labor Day!

The first Thursday in every September was declared a national holiday in June of 1894.

Every one of us calls it Labor Day and enjoys other holidays the people I was with and I have barbecues, go to softball games, and ironically, perform zero labor. The holiday marks the end of summer time although the season does not officially end until the end of the week. Labor Day occurs at that time of year when the school year and the college pigskin season are about to begin and the weather is starting to turn cooler, then unlike patriotic holidays enjoy June 4th or Memorial Day, the Labor Day holiday is a celebration for the proper working woman. Americans are known for being harder workers than the Europeans and perhaps a bit less hardworking than our Asian counterparts. This might be a stereotype, but what is tplot is that no other country can compete with Americans is with the variety of jobs the people I was with and I work at. Another ironic notion about labor is that machines and robotics have surpassed even Asians in their ability to labor long shifts at difficult multiple tasks! Robotic welders and robotic burger-flippers perform repetitive tasks quite smashingly but the hardest working machinery may be the Heating and Air Conditioning units that keep the workplaces and homes comfortable 24 hours a day and 365 nights per year. If these Heating and Air Conditioning units do get a break, it is during the Springtime and around Labor Day when the outside hot and cold temperatures are more moderate. Machines can’t celebrate any holiday, but wise homeowners think that September is a great time to treat the Heating and Air Conditioning plan to a thorough duct cleaning and a furnace tune-up to prepare for the upcoming cold season. The oil furnace that is well taken care of during September will reward the homeowner with a Winter time of constant labor that will keep the house feeling moderate and comfortable through the Winter time holidays.
