Kid was worried about bugs in winter

Sometimes I feel that children are so amazing.

Other times, they drive me completely insane.

However, yesterday was one of those times when my child was being recognizably adorable and I was blown away by his humanitarianism. You see, he finally started to understand the seasonal cycle that characterizes our world, however every Summer it gets incredibly sizzling and every winter time it gets incredibly cold. My good friend and I are able to survive all of these temperature swings because my buddy and I have indoor air temperature control devices, like our a/c and furnace. It was the first time that my child has ever been so aware of our human privileges and everything that modern technology has to offer. This is when he also realized that animals do not have access to heating, cooling, and air quality control systems when the weather is nasty. When the air temperature is sky-high, they cannot use a/cs. When the outdoor air quality takes a turn for the brutally chilly and cold temperatures, animals do not have a way to use fireplaces or furnaces. My child started to get legitimately sad about how uncomfortable all of the animals must be when my buddy and I do not have a favorable climate and they do not have thermostats. He even started to worry about tiny creatures, all the way down to bugs. He turned it to me at one point and asked – however where do the bugs go if they don’t have any furnaces? That’s what I told him… Well, they like to come into our nice and warm home to use our furnace. Immediately, in that moment, my child stopped caring so much about the chilly bugs and told me that was disgusting, but kids.
