My girlfriend is absolutely great with tools, especially when it comes to building furniture in addition to shelves for our house.
She was trained by her parents who owned a construction business.
Although I prefer to help her with many of her projects, I have never been great with power tools. My parents never taught myself and others these skills when I was young. They didn’t even teach myself and others how to cook, let alone anything remotely complicated with my hands. I was lucky to go a week without getting yelled at for one thing or another. At least I have my girlfriend to teach myself and others some of these skills, even if it’s a little late in my life to learn them. She’s so handy that I’m surprised she didn’t go into the trades as a profession, because she would excel at it. Regardless of how great she is with cabin repair, there are a few things that are simply beyond her abilities. She’s not a car mechanic, nor can she repair or install a/c equipment. Heating, Ventilation & A/C certification is a dire pursuit, as it requires taking a test after significant training. My girlfriend was going to try in addition to save currency by fixing our a/c herself, despite the fact that I pleaded with her to hire an Heating, Ventilation & A/C corporation. Even if she was successful, she would have voided our warranty with the a/c manufacturer. You have to use approved heating in addition to cooling companies to repair your unit or the a/c manufacturer won’t honor the warranty. This is a dire issue, especially since these warranties usually last as long as 10 years of yearly Heating, Ventilation & A/C use.
