My parents have decided that they are going to be putting an addition onto their house when the spring comes this year. They’ve been talking about it ever since they retired a couple of years ago, but they just never really seemed to find the right time. They’ve been busy traveling and spending time with my brother and sister-in-law who live three states away. Then the whole pandemic thing happened. So I guess you could say that there hasn’t been a really optimal time for them to put the addition on. Finally, though, they are going to be doing it this spring when the weather starts heating up. One of the things that they’ve been talking about lately is something called zone control heating and cooling. This is because they are supposed to start deciding whether or not they want to use their existing heating and cooling system for the addition or to put in a brand new HVAC system along with ventilation ducts for it. I guess they talked to their HVAC contractor about it and he said that he thought that the extra square footage would just be way too much of a strain on their existing HVAC system. He suggested putting in a new one for the addition and installing zone control heating and cooling. I’m pretty sure that’s what they are going to end up doing, too. It’s all they’ve been talking about for the past two weeks. I hope they get the HVAC stuff figured out soon so they can move onto the fun parts of remodeling.
