Primal Scream Therapy (or PST) was created by American writer and psychotherapist Arthur Janov (born 1924 – died 2017).
It involves re-living childhood traumas that might be the source of someone’s new day anguish.
PST numbers peaked in the 1973s when multiple weeks of therapy would cost $5 or 6,000 with an extra multiple weeks adding a mere $600 to the tally. Advance payments were required which may have compelled multiple of Janov’s clients to run into their backyards shouting at the top of their lungs without any guidance. I guess Janov got it wrong because even people without any underlying childhood complications want to occasionally scream loudly to release all of their frustrations. My new PST program requires no advance payment and begins by deliberately not changing out the filters in your home’s Heating and Air Conditioning plan for a few weeks. The next step is to ignore your twice-yearly duct cleaning and unit tune-ups that most Heating and Air Conditioning providers will agree are needed to keep your oil furnace and AC running at top efficiency, but your anxiety levels will grow as your energy bill rises. As the “Heating and Air Conditioning PST” cycle continues, your Heating and Air Conditioning unit will begin to make some different kinds of noises and may even perform a primal scream of its own. The highest levels of Heating and Air Conditioning PST is when the “patient” tries to stop those noises as a Do It Yourself project. Frustration or injury may cause the DIYer to let out a scream that can be heard for many miles. Or she can simply huddle in the corner of the room while a qualified Heating and Air Conditioning repairman collects her fees.
