Most companies have people who have the same interests hanging out together. For our company, we take things a notch higher where we have actual clubs. For instance, the cooling and heating business that I work for, they have clubs for the different departments. However, it does not mean that just because you are in that particular department, you get to join the clubs. There are a couple of requirements one must meet in order to join the club. I work for the HVAC serviceman and there are a couple of requirements that I should meet. One of the requirements is to have done a number of HVAC installations. This is because it spells out experience which is an important skill to have in the club. Fortunately, you do not need to have performed any heating and cooling service on a commercial air conditioning system. The club consisted of other professionals including an air conditioning expert. Another requirement is that you need to have done a couple of air conditioning repairs. As I checked the list of requirements and gradually ticked them out, I was gaining more confidence. I had even done a lot more fittings of different heating and cooling equipment to help with indoor comfort. The final requirement was I had to pass a small test where I was to regulate the temperature of an air conditioning system using a digital thermostat. I need to know most of the quality heating and air cooling units available in the local business such as the electric heat pump. Well, I ended up joining the club which made me very excited and proud of my dedication and passion. There were also perks for being in a club as an annual salary bonus from the revenue collected by the department.
