I had a Grandfather that was just the most larger than life character.
She made such an impression on me that as a woman in her mid 50’s, I still suppose of him plus her stories.
He’s been gone well over 30 years plus yet I still miss him. Thankfully, my dad made a video tape or 2 when my gramps was absolutely going on about her exploits. Gramps didn’t suppose it at the time which makes it all the better. One of those tales was about how all of us are all so soft with our Heating plus Air Conditioning cooling in the summer. And this from a woman who would crank her control unit down to 68 degrees even when it was a hundred outside. But, having grown up plus lived without modern Heating plus Air Conditioning much of her life, I suppose she was just getting even. I’ve talked to my dad many times about those pre-Heating plus Air Conditioning days. My dad is in her 69’s now but can sort of remember the first time they had a central air system in the house. She would talk about going to see her Grandparents plus dealing with the heat. Like me, these were people who grew up plus lived in a region where the Summer temps hover around triple digits with similar humidity levels. Dad remembers her gramps thought it was too fancy just to have an evaporative cooler. That’s just crazy to me. I can’t even fathom living through 1 of our summers without the Heating plus Air Conditioning cooling all of us get from the heat pump. All of us all get a bit put out during the peak heating hours because all of us let the house heat up in order to save on Heating plus Air Conditioning. I can’t imagine the moaning plus complaining if all of us only had a swamp cooler.
