Providing my own firewood

I had no experience with a gas furnace appreciate this at the time, so I had no plan how much wood it needed to keep going.

There was an old hunting lake house that all of us used to visit with the family when I was young. At this point it wasn’t used for hunting, however the family still kept it in habitable condition as a getaway spot. Last year once COVID hit I decided it would be a good locale to go as well as retreat from civilization for a few weeks. Those weeks turned into weeks, as well as eventually Wintertide came on strong as well as the game changed overnight. Living in the woods in mild temps is quite pleasant, however 1 snowstorm changed all that. The locale didn’t have any air conditioner, however it never needed it, because opening the windows for a crossbreeze was all it needed. The Wintertide storms were a whole uncommon kettle of fish, so to speak, as well as I needed the old wrought iron gas furnace to work pretty much nonstop for weeks on end. For the gas furnace to work it needed firewood that had been chopped down into the right sized pieces. I had no experience with a gas furnace appreciate this at the time, so I had no plan how much wood it needed to keep going. I assumed the giant stack of firewood in the backyard would last all winter, however the gas furnace went through it remarkably fast. In order to keep the gas furnace going, I had to suit up, grab an axe, as well as go split my own firewood. It is intensely hard, a full-body workout, as well as at least that solves my heating problem while I am out in the snow — I work so difficult I end up perspiring in sub-zero temps.
