Starting a new career path

A few months ago, I was laid off from my job, which left me feeling seriously sad as well as upset about what the future would hold.

For weeks, I spent most of my time applying to jobs.

I got a decent amount of interview opportunities, as well. However, after going through the interview process I would eventually get a rejection text or email telling me that they went with another candidate. Then things all changed seemingly out of nowhere while I was at the house continuing my job search. My wife had hired an appointment for a Heating, Ventilation & A/C Tech to come take a look at the A/C component, which was having some kind of issue with the Cooling component in our family room. She ended up starting a conversation with me asking what I did for work, and embarrassingly I told her that I was unemployed as well as looking for work. I joked with her that if she knows anybody, don’t be shy to mention me. Surprisingly she went on to say that they had been looking for an entry-level Heating, Ventilation & A/C tech for a few months now, so if I was honestly interested she would be delighted to put in a word for me. I have nothing to lose, so I ended up agreeing to this. Later that week, I ended up getting a call from the same Heating, Ventilation & A/C dealer… After about a month or so of working for this Heating, Ventilation & A/C dealer, I am already really enjoying the work. I am no longer strapped to an office cubicle all afternoon. Not to mention, I am able to help out people in my own community with our Heating, Ventilation & A/C knowledge. I still have a long way to go and plenty more to learn about the Heating, Ventilation & A/C World, but I am so thrilled that this random encounter led me to get into a career that I absolutely enjoy.
