Taking a spontaneous career opportunity

I’ve spent the last 6 months applying for job after job on the internet. Unfortunately, I was laid off from my previous position and have been struggling to find a new job ever since. There have been a few interviews, however after going through the interview process I would eventually get a rejection letter or a phone call telling me that I did not get the opening. Then things all changed suddenly. One afternoon while I was at the apartment searching for available openings, the Heating, Ventilation plus A/C Tech that my husband had called to service our HVAC system for the season was making casual conversation with me. As we talked, the HVAC technician inquired about what I did for work, and embarrassingly I told him that I was unemployed. I told him that I was available if he knew anyone looking to hire, but I didn’t expect anything to come from it. Surprisingly he went on to say that they had actually been looking for an entry-level Heating, Ventilation plus A/C tech. He told me that he’d be happy to mention me to his boss if I was interested. I have nothing to lose, so I ended up agreeing to this. Just a few afternoons later, I ended up getting a call from the same Heating, Ventilation plus A/C supplier. I began working at the HVAC company by the end of that month, and now I have been working there for just about 6 weeks. In this short amount of time, I’m already a big fan of the work I’m doing. It’s great that I am no longer strapped to our office cubicle all day, plus I am able to help out several people across the area with their Heating, Ventilation plus A/C needs. I still have a long way to go, but I am excited to learn more about the Heating, Ventilation plus A/C World. Who would have thought that I’d get a job when I least expected it?
