The Old Lakeside Camp with my Favorite Fireplace

We aren’t allowed to have fires on the beach here in my town.

I used to do those on the beach when I was a kid in the 70’s.

Beach bonfires were the best. The movie Jaws reminds me of those old cool bonfire parties me and my parents used to have on the beach when we were growing up. They’re a thing of the past now with all of the rules, but it’s still a nice memory in my mind when I want to recall it. Memories are like nice old films that we can watch whenever we choose. I still have memories of sitting in front of the fireplace on a winter night, watching baseball games with my gramps. I remember one game we were watching went to 17 innings and we ended up going to sleep at like one in the morning. My gramps used to chop wood for the fireplace because it was the only way we could warm the house at the time. He built that house from scratch, with my dad’s help, but made it very raw like those old camps on the lake. They didn’t put an air conditioner in the house until about 20 years ago, and didn’t need it, but times have changed since then and we can’t rely on mother nature to cool down the house anymore in the summer. I haven’t been up there to see that camp, with my favorite fireplace, in probably over 15 years, ever since all of my grandparents passed away. I miss them so much.
