The system required an expert IT technician

The car dealership has a fancy security system that includes motion detectors, automated lighting, and additional security features.

  • Every night when the owner of the car dealership leaves the building, he activates the alarms.

The alarms shut down all of the lights inside of the building. The system activates all of the outdoor lights. They are actually set on solar timers, but the system is only activated when the lights inside of the building are shut off. There is also an additional security feature on the building. When the motion sensors are triggered near the doors, the lights come on and the silent alarm is supposed to be activated. It’s up to me to secure the area and turn off the silent alarm. I also have to alert the security company if there is no need for backup. Last weekend, there was an issue at the car dealership that required an expert IT technician. The doors opened up on their own and the security system did not activate. I happened to be the security guard on duty when the problem happened shortly after midnight. I contacted the manager of the building and he called a service IT technician from the security company. The million dollar security system wouldn’t have helped very much at all if I had not been there walking the grounds that night. Anyone could have walked into the building and walked out with a number of items that would have been easy to carry and cost the business a ton of money. Most of the salesmen keep their laptop and money in their desk drawer.
