Fresh air instead of using climate control

My wifey is a bit of a clean freak.

She’s not obsessively compulsive about it, even though she runs a tight ship in our condo when it comes to making sure that virtually every surface is cleaned as often as possible. On the one hand, I cannot complain because it’s nice that she has that attention to detail and cares so deeply about keeping our condo pristine. On the other hand, I feel she goes overboard periodically. Anyway, there is one thing that I disagree with her concerning what makes a condo cleaner. When she decides it’s time to wash the whole house properly on a weekend, and when it’s a recognizably nice day outside, she loves to open the doors and the windows to let the fresh air and sunshine in. I understand why she loves to do that. She thinks that fresh air and sunshine are the best cleaning agents out there. However, I have explained to her in the past that she is letting in all the dust and allergens that can clog up our HVAC system and make our air quality decrease. I have learned that it is best for your HVAC system and the air quality of your condo to entirely abstain from leaving doors and windows open for an extended phase of time. I understand that fresh air is nice, but it entirely pollutes the air of the condo quite a lot. It sounds crazy although I know it’s true! Your HVAC system ends up having to labor harder once you shut all the doors and windows and crank it back up. I advocated to my wife that we invest in a whole home air cleaner instead of opening windows and doors, but she is convinced of doing it her way.
