I scheduled my HVAC guy to come over at the perfect moment.
- Usually, he comes to my house to service my HVAC system and I never have anything to talk with him about.
My HVAC system has always run smoothly, so there’s not much for us to discuss, which I know is a great thing. This time though, I was having problems getting cool air. The AC system was definitely running, but the air coming through the vents was lukewarm. Even my thermostat said that it was 5 degrees cooler than what I programmed it to. I told my HVAC guy that my HVAC system was running constantly, but not cooling efficiently. Immediately, he told me that it was probably my refrigerant. According to him, the refrigerant was a liquid that cooled the air by removing the heat and humidity from the air. As it turns out, he was correct. There was a leak in the refrigerant line, which meant the refrigerant was slowly leaking. The scary part was that he didn’t know how many leaks there were. I’m lucky that he was able to locate the hole where the leak was coming from and seal it right away. Thankfully, there was only one leak, so it didn’t take him too long to repair. I’m thankful for that, because I knew a refrigerant leak could cost a lot of money if there were multiple holes. Although I’m glad I had something for my HVAC guy to do this time, I’m not happy about having an extra expense to pay.
