I’m ready to save even more money on air conditioning this year.
For the past few years, I’ve been concentrating on making some significant savings when it comes to the utility costs related to air conditioners.
In an unusual way, I’ve found that I’m sort of into it. It’s not like I’ve made a living on saving on cooling costs, but I enjoy finding new ways to save on air conditioning. When I first moved here, that was not true. Since I was no longer worrying about prohibitive heating bills, I went all in on an air conditioner. I have to confess, I went for a good cooling system because I was a bit shocked by the heat here. After a year or two, I was entirely rethinking that strategy. I was spending way, way too much on cooling the house. On top of that, I was cooling a home that was often empty during the peak heating hours of the afternoon. So I started my air conditioner savings quest by adding a smart thermostat. That chopped a chunk off the utility bill instantly. And since then, I’ve added odd components over the ensuing years. I replaced all the weather stripping one year to get the home as slender as possible. This year, I’m adding some solar shades that sync with the smart thermostat. So I don’t have to worry about mitigating the direct sunlight heating in my home any more. Technology does it for me. I’m even thinking about hanging the laundry out to dry this summer, but I’m not sure I’m ready for that kind of commitment.
