I think it’s funny when people in cooler climates ask me what we typically do around here during the summer months. My response is quite often that we hide in air conditioned buildings and wait for the heat to subside, which is not entirely an exaggeration. Yes, you may think of this weather as tropical, but I’m here to tell you there are some days that are even too hot to visit the beach! These are the days when the sun is bright and searing and the humidity is such that it feels like you’re swimming down the street! On such days, it pays to have top-of-the-line air conditioning units keeping you cool. I pay to have my air conditioning unit looked at in April at the very latest in preparation for the summer months. After all, during some years it may already feel like summer by then! Life around here in the summer is a little slower, simply because you don’t want to expend too much energy in this heat! I, for one, am grateful that I have a great air conditioning unit both at home and in the office where I work. It would be hard for me to imagine life without such benefits. I can’t even begin to imagine what life is like for those construction workers and other people who have to work outside during the worst of the summer weather. I just hope they are properly hydrated and never too far away from an air conditioned space. That’s pretty much a necessity around here!
