There is no better feeling in the world than a good chat with a stranger.
I have always loved talking to people and hearing about their experiences, but I don’t usually expect that from HVAC technicians! I have had quite a few HVAC repairs or HVAC part replacements and HVAC tune ups, so I know generally what to expect.
The A/C technician arrives, does their job, I pay them and they leave. Nothing really unusual or special. However, this one A/C specialist that came out to my home was out of the ordinary. Instead of going straight to work like most of the heating and cooling technicians do, he instead stood and talked with me for a bit, and explained how a HVAC maintenance appointment usually goes. It was quite interesting to listen to him explain the different parts of the cooling system, and while I didn’t fully grasp all of it, it was cool nonetheless. Then he moved from HVAC topics to general life and we had a really great chat. Of course, he had to move on from talking to me to eventually fixing the issues with my HVAC device, but it was a great talk while it lasted! The rest of the day I was in a better mood, just for having such a great talk with him. I am hoping I can get him again next time, since I plan on getting my ductwork cleaned in the near future. However, I know that a lot of times they send out whatever HVAC repairman is available, so I may not see him again.
